Real race or not?

Seeing I saw that Balio and Sunder are listed as Grassrunners, where does it leave this "clan".

Okay, a little research later, Garr's clan is definitely Guardian. Its all in Katakana as well. The interesting thing is that Karn's Tribe is two Kanj. The first character is the character for "person" but the second character as far as I can tell means "Internal" but my knowledge of kanji it terrible so I wouldn't know how to translate this. I'm concerned the meaning of the the word "Internal" is changed by being paired with "person". Nothing substantial but I felt it was pretty cool to know this tiny lead.

Peco's Clan is still a mystery. I wish I could translate the text written about each clan (its like a sentence) but there are too many Kanji words and my Japanese is very rusty.

Scratch it, his Tribe is actually just called Human Tribe. I just found a translation that shows both characters combined mean Human, so that mystery is over.

Ah okay so hes just a human, as for Peco I'll just put a question mark beside his race since they only thing he has going for him is that hes..plantish. Just wondering what he really is if hes not a Grassman.

If I had to make a guess, I would say his clan is either related to him being Yggdrasil or more likely a reference to his mutant plant origins.

I found a decent page with about a 1000 kanji characters, so I might be able to get some idea but it will take awhile.

Okay after a few hours of scrolling through a page with the tiniest kanji ever, trying to compare it to a more stylized version used in the official art book to make it look cool and not practicl for us illiterate fans, I think I finally translated Peco's Race.

Let me start off by saying that I am not an expert on Japanese and its possible that some of these words being used together will change their meaning much like I discovered with Karn's clan since the individual Kanji don't lend themselves to meaning "humans" so its very likely this is inaccurate. Anyway, its better than nothing...

The first kanji is for Unusual/Strange. I can thank The Wallflower anime I've been watching cause they used it to describe a character.

The second kanji was pain to find but it once again means Different/Unusual/Strange

The third kanji is for Plant

The last kanji is the only one I'm not terribly sure about, I have a feeling its an embellished (i.e. lazy) drawing of the word in the art book, the closest thing I've found that makes any sense is this kanji which basically means Material

So ultimately it seems his "race" is Strange Unusual Plant Material

Huh. So should we use that as his race, or just put "Grassmen", "Plant" or "Mutant"?

how about Mutant Plant? :|

I feel Mutant Plant works, we could also keep him as a Grassman as well since he does eventually turn out to be Yggdrasil. Maybe do both, his origins explains his special status.

Guess we can put Mutant Plant/Grassman down, then make a note of it somewhere :P
