Story[]

After Teepo fails to convince Ryu to join him and Myria after trapping him in his mind, Teepo decides that he has no choice but to kill Ryu and he turns into the Dragon Lord, only to be tragically defeated.

Strategy[]

Dragon Lord is likely the toughest Boss the player has faced up to this point, and many players consider him to be the most difficult Boss in the entire game.

Teepo uses powerful spells like Inferno, Blizzard and Sirocco all of which can deal around 100 damage or even higher to the entire party. His physical attacks should also not be underestimated and can deal with around the same of damage, Triple Blow can be dangerous but is not used as often.

By far, Howling is the biggest threat in this battle as a successful party-wide confusion can easily spell doom in a matter of turns. Indeed, when coupled with D.Lord's decent 41 Agi rating can potentially lead to a game over in a single round if the player isn't prepared.

The player should put precautions in place, Confusion resistance will be necessary so Rings of Balance will help tremendously. Equipment that reduces Ice/Fire Elemental damage will also come in handy to deal with his powerful spells.

A party of Ryu, Rei and Momo is recommended. The player should dedicate the first turns into buffing so as to mitigate damage. Two casts of Shield for the party and one of Barrier to each party member should suffice. Speed will also help if reaching 41 or higher is a problem depending on the player's equipment. Might and War Shout will be needed to make things easier as Dragon Lord has the second highest HP in the entire game.

Once buffed, the player should use their strongest attacks on Dragon Lord. Shadowwalk, Aura, Double Blow and Triple Blow will all help in dealing high damage.

With all buffs set, the player should likely take 40-60 or even less damage from Dragon Lord's spells which at this point in the game is non-threatening. Kaiser is helpful in dealing massive damage but is not a necessity. Weretiger can be useful as well, though a player may prefer not to do it so as to keep Rei available for supportive duties if required.

As an alternative strategy, the player can use either Peco or Garr (instead of Rei), provided one has the Dragon Fang or Dragon Spear respectively since these come with Dragon Slayer, these will greatly increase the damage done to Dragon Lord, specially on an Attack Formation. The downside to this approach is to forsake Rei's Pilfer so one other unit must have Steal to get the Dragon Blade. Alternatively the player can forsake Momo, but this will deprive the player of some buffs, although Ryu can at the very least provide Shield and Barrier and is also an excellent healer, and Rei can cast Speed. War Shout depends on who has it.

The battle is thus largely won as a long-term endurance test. Mitigate damage, buff, heal and then unleash all might possible on Dragon Lord and this foe should fall in a matter of time.

Trivia[]

  • Teepo's Dragon Form somewhat resembles Zog in coloration. This suggests Teepo is a Dark Dragon.
