Ladon is the god worshiped by the Dragon Clan, and a recurring character who appears throughout the Breath of Fire series. His statues serve as save points in the first two games, while in Breath of Fire III he appears as one of the many masters that player characters can study under.
Appearances[]
Breath of Fire[]
His statue is everywhere and is prayed to by many people. However, other than praying, you may also decide to save your journey (game) when you pray to Ladon. When you die you will return to where you prayed to him last.
Breath of Fire II[]
There are still quite a number of his statues in each town, but few people still pray to him, preferring to worship at the Church of St. Eva. Praying to Ladon allows players to save their game, change which characters are in their party, or to exit the game. This is the religion that Ryu fights for during the course of the game.
Breath of Fire III[]
By the time Breath of Fire III takes place, only two known statues of Ladon remain: one in Mt. Glaus, where it serves to travelers, and the other found in Dragnier, the town of the Dragon Clan. He also resides in a panel on the wall in Dragnier, only showing himself if Ryu examines it. When visited at the latter location he will offer to allow the party to study under him as a master.
As a Master[]
Ladon is available as a Master when the party has acquired all 18 Dragon Genes. His skill Aura is the strongest holy elemental attack in the game and is otherwise only available in Warrior and Myrmidon dragon forms. In particular learning Aura from Ladon allows you to use it in True Kaiser form, although Meryleep's Shadowwalk is also extremely powerful and much cheaper. In terms of stats, Ladon incurs severe penalties to HP and AP so he is typically suited to characters who already have a healthy supply in the end-game such as Ryu, or characters like Garr and Peco who don't need much AP.
