Marlok is a non-playable character who appears in Breath of Fire IV. He is a notoriously stingy manillo merchant who resides in Synesta. He initially employs Kahn as his bodyguard and is instrumental in helping the party to procure a new sandflier. Upon completing the game's trading sequence, Marlok becomes available as one of the many masters that party members can study under in order to augment their stats and learn new abilities.

Role in Breath of Fire IV[]

When Ryu tries to speak to him regarding the whereabouts of Princess Elina, his bodyguard Kahn gets beaten up. Because of this, he has Nina temporarily work as his servant while he sends the rest of the party a catch the thief who recently stole from one of his shipments. When the party decide to let the thief go, he sends them to the Wharf to work. Upon completing this work, he takes them to the Gateway.

Later in the game, when Ursula and Scias attempt to hijack his sandflier, Marlok is disgusted that the party would resort to banditry, embarrassing Nina and Cray. He gives them a loan so they could get their own Sandflier, with the thought that their party is on their way to a very big destiny, and he wants to profit from it.

Once Ryu completes the trading sequence to get the Tin Ball, Marlok becomes available as a master. He is good choice for characters who could use additional AP.

Personality[]

An addition to being infamously stingy, Marlok also has a lecherous side. Like some of the creeping clan members in previous games, his manner of speech is modeled after a stereotypical French accent.
