Mastersystem

From Breath of Fire

The Mastersystem is a special gameplay feature of Breath of Fire III and IV.

For other uses of Master see Master (Disambiguations)

[edit] In BoF III

The mastersystem's first appearance is in Breath of Fire III. Generally, it allows the player to customize the characters in unique ways via people who are referred to as masters: Characters can become apprentices under these masters and gain boni or mali on their status(e.g. the sorcerer Mygas allows his apprentice to gain higher intelligence and AP, but their strenght and defense doesn't grow that quickly.) After a certain number of Level Ups, characters can learn abilities from their masters.

[edit] In BoF IV

Basically, the master system remains unchanged. Actually, only two things have changed:

  1. One does not gain abilities by leveling up, but instead by flfilling certain conditions like dealing a certain amount of damage.
  2. Masters have their own will which their apprentice will execute: These wills vary from gaining more Zenny after battle to dealing more damage.
