This page is about a game-play system and is written from a "Real World" perspective.

PETS (Positive Encounter and Tactics System) is the name of the battle system of Breath of Fire:Dragon Quarter. It is a mixture of real time strategy and the combat system of tactical RPGs.

One main feature of PETS is that the player can see their enemies on the regular map. He can set up traps which give him an advantage in battle. Additionally, the player can use a field attack which gives the character performing this attack an extra turn in battle. However, the enemy can also get an extra turn, if the player is not cautious enough.
