Poison is a recurring status effect in the Breath of Fire series. It can be induced by multiple events, including traps and enemy attacks. A poisoned character remain poisoned until cured or knocked out. Each step whilst in a poisoned state will deduct the character's health and cause a purple flash.
Breath of Fire
In battle a poisoned character will bare an icon over their head with a purple ghost in it stating that they are poisoned. You can use items like an Antdt or a Antler to heal it.
Breath of Fire II
When in battle a posioned character will have a skull and cross bones floating over their heads, whiile outside of battle every step taken will cause the character to flash with a sound causing damage.
Breath of Fire III
Poisoned character's in battle bear a purple hue, signifying that they are poisoned. While reducing health, physical damage is also reduced to 3/4.
