- "The King's Sword? Why, it's right here! It was just returned to us by the Empire. In exchange for its return... They have made several difficult demands to us... Among them, changes to our treaty-- changes that we have little choice but to accept!"
- — Prince Morley during Cray's trial
Prince Morley, also referred to in-game as the Ludian Prince, is a non-playable character who appears in Breath of Fire IV. As the crown prince of one of the continent's major powers, he plays a crucial role in forging and maintaining the uneasy truce between the Eastern Alliance and the Fou Empire. He seems to put his duties as statesman above his personal feelings.
Role in Breath of Fire IV[]
Prince Morley placed into an arranged engagement with Elina, the eldest daughter of the King of Wyndia due to the political advantages it would provide to both their nations. After she is kidnapped, the party breaks the Alliance's truce with the Empire in order to try to rescue her.
Cray is captured and Morley has him court-martialed, believing that it's brash and irresponsible to risk the peace and security of an entire civilization in order to try to rescue one individual -- even if that individual is a princess, and his own fiancée. He later renegotiates the treaty with the Empire, but is forced to make several major concessions on the part of the alliance.
