Shan River is a location in Breath of Fire IV. It is a large river on the Paedra peninsula, which is difficult to navigate due to the various logs that are at times washed downstream. Gondolas were installed to facilitate travel from one side of the river to the other. Various plant life such as mangrove trees, lily pads, and massive tree stumps grow near the riverbanks.
Story[]
The party finally reaches the Paedra peninsula after crossing over from Saldine on the Northern Islands to the Western Continent. Upon restocking their supplies at Koshka, they are determined to reach the imperial capital Chedo.
They need to traverse the muddy river area of Shan River in order to proceed on their journey. First, they cross the river with one of the several hanging gondolas, which can easily be summoned with a lever. After making it to the other side, they cross tree stumps and marshes, only to return to yet another gondola, which is used to traverse back to the initial side of the river.
Proceeding with caution, the party avoids several logs which are swept downstream by the river and eventually make it to the other side. From there, they can proceed their journey to Chiqua, the next stop on the way to Chedo.
Treasure[]
Navigating the floating logs is necessary in order to reach two treasure chests. The party needs to ram them with the platform, then they will jump over automatically and travel downstream to the treasure.
