— Stoll to the party

Stoll is a character who appears in Breath of Fire IV. He is one of the masters that player characters can apprentice under.

Role in Breath of Fire IV[]

Stoll resides in the Hideout and can be found in the center. You first need to encounter him in a "?" area on the map between Synesta and the Hideout in order to trigger his event. Then you need to play a minigame where you push barrels in narrow passageways to block them in order to catch him, as he'll run away anytime the party gets near him. After this and the party returning to Marlok empty-handed Stoll can be enlisted as a Master.

As a Master[]

  • His Will, Filch, is best utilized by Ursula due to her being able to hit multiple enemies at once.
  • Steal is a good move and is ideal for Ryu to use in his meeting with Fou-Lu (as it will net him one-time available items).
  • In the beginning of the game, any character not apprenticed to anyone should be apprenticed to Stoll, as he has no downsides.
  • It's best to get him as a Master early on while the party has only modest funds at best, so the loss of all your Zenny won't sting as badly and can be regenerated more easily.
  • Cray is a good character to apprentice early on as Stoll will boost his meager Agility stat to more desirable levels until better Masters appear.
